A creation from Oglala Sioux Enrolled Tribal Member, Diane Tells His Name. Diane has dolls in exhibits, museums and galleries. Among other credits, Diane has been selected to be a judge at the juried art show at the Annual Indian Fair at the Museum of Man, Balboa Park in past years; has dolls in the Autry Collection (Los Angeles), the May Collection (San Diego) and has a doll recently accessioned into the National Mus. of American Indian (Smithsonian) .

Walks with the Sunset is dressed for her "coming out" ceremony. Her father says with her auburn hair, sunny disposition, inner and outer beauty she looks to him like she should Walk With the Sunset in her everyday life. A bright a hopeful future ahead of her.

Her hand soft leather dress material has tin golden "coins" sewn into place on the upper part of her outfit, front and back. Her belt is the color of the sunset with copper and turquoise glass beads, sewn onto a micro-suede foundation. Her earrings are white glass bugle beads and turquoise glass beads. Her necklace is “bone pipe” and a cowrie shell, tied with sinew. Her leggings are leather as well and beaded in rows with turquoise and copper glass beads. She has plain leather moccasins. Her hair is light brown horsetail. The bottom of her dress is adorned with gold plated clippers.

Sunset is 11" tall and has a 8” armspan.
Body parts are machine sewn and hand stitched into place. She is filled with polyfill.
Sunset comes signed with maker's mark on upper thigh and with a authenticity card with maker's tribe and signature. Please allow at least a week to 10 days to complete the doll. Thank you!

Care instructions

Dolls will last for many years with care. Yearly or so use a soft makeup brush to dust doll off. Any stray horse tail hair can be easily tucked back into place using needle nose pliers . Spots and dirt can be removed using mild dishsoap and water , dapping spot with light pressure and swirling motion using small ,soft paint brush. The lighter suede can be cleaned with white baby powder using a small brush also.
If your doll includes a feather and it deteriorates , I will replace it anytime. Just email me!

Are you enrolled with a federally recognized tribe?

Yes, I am an enrolled Oglala Lakota Sioux. My enrollment number is confidential . I include a card of authenticity with each item purchased and am listed with the US Governments Indian Arts and Craft Board.

Custom and personalized orders

I only make dolls shown for sale in my shop. I can adjust fabric or bead color but I do not do custom orders any longer.
Please ask about memorial dolls where I use fabric from clothing of a loved one.
I can also use your horse tail from your horse for the dolls hair.
