Lakota History Lecture/Show and Tell Program
Any number, any age group. My rate is $100.00 for the lecture plus expenses.
My lecture lasts 1 hour including time for questions. I bring artifacts from my personal Native collection and share stories about them. I also bring my powwow dresses and tell some history about powwows.
I am a loud speaker, so unless the area is auditorium size or gym size, I usually do not need a mic. I am pretty old school and prefer not to use electronics. No power point, etc. I usually speak in front of a 6-8 foot table (I'll cover with a blanket)and I display my history before the viewers. I like to use a white board to diagram a few things and to use for spelling Lakota words.
I am Enrolled Oglala Lakota (Sioux). My family comes from Pine Ridge Indian
Reservation in South Dakota. I am the mother of five, grandmother of
13. I have worked and been involved in the Native Community here in San
Diego County for over 40 years. Most recently I was the Artifact Collections Manager and Research Librarian at the Barona Cultural Center and Museum. I am on two native boards dealing with Museums and Foster Care.
Please let me know if you need more information about
my workshops or content.
